For this concept project, I designed and developed a website for a local hair salon. The focus was on a professional appearance, a clear overview of services, and an online booking system that allows clients to schedule appointments themselves.

THE CHALLENGE
A busy hair salon with no online presence
Hair Express has a loyal customer base and a strong reputation in the area. However, without a website, the salon was invisible to new clients. Appointments were made exclusively by phone — even outside opening hours. New customers who preferred online booking were lost because there was no digital booking option.
A new customer who can’t find your salon online won’t call — they’ll go to a competitor instead.
APPROACH AND SOLUTION
My approach in three steps

Concept & visual identity
Based on Hair Express’s brand values — professional, approachable, and modern — I created a color palette and typography that suit a contemporary hair salon. Warm yet clean, inviting yet structured. Everything was defined in Figma before any development started.

Build in WordPress
The website was built in WordPress using Elementor Free and the Bookly plugin for online appointments — clients can choose their own date and time, and the owner doesn’t need to manually confirm bookings. It includes five pages with a consistent layout and a clear services page with pricing.

SEO basics & testing
All pages were optimised with focus keywords aimed at local searches — people looking for a hair salon nearby. Meta descriptions and alt texts were set up using Yoast SEO. The site was tested and optimised for mobile, tablet, and desktop.
